Programs implemented under the program of distribution of agricultural crops over fallow fields under sojan system with the participation of youth entrepreneurs were drawn in to the attention of the District Secretary, Colombo Mr. K.G. Wijesiri on the last 19^th.

Divisional Secretary, Kesbewa Mr. K.P. Pemadasa and District Planning Director Mr. Senaka de Silva have joined along with the District Secretary, Colombo Mr. K.G. Wijesiri for the field observation of Sojan Plantation project maintained by Buddhist Cultural Centre Nedimala, initiated in an extent of land ½ a acre in Thattageliyadda area in the Batakettara North Grama Niladhari division in the Divisional Secretariat Division, Kesbewa in December, 2022.    

- Colombo District Media Unit –

 Ah2 the Colombo district meeting on Multi-Sectoral Integrated Mechanism for Empowering Rural Economic Revitalization Centers to ensure food security and nutrition was chaired by the District Secretary, Colombo Mr. K.G. Wijesiri and taken place in the mini auditorium of the District Secretariat, Colombo on 16^th August, 2023. The primary objective of establishing this mechanism was to establish a socio-economic environment where people can get healthy food in any situation that may arise, that no citizen should starve due to lack of food and that no child should suffer from malnutrition. Accordingly, the progress of such programs implemented in the Colombo district and how to plan programs in future were taken in to discussions. Apart from this, various facts ie: the progress of district food production, the progress of livestock and fisheries production in the district, the nutritional status of school children in the district, Ayurveda for health and nutrition in the district, the progress of the measures taken in relation to food safety and nutrition at the divisional secretariat level were also discussed herein.

This program was coordinated by the District Planning Division and led by Mr. Senaka Silva, District Planning Director, and Colombo. 

Officials representing the District Agriculture Division, Western Province Agriculture Department, Assistant Commissioner of Agricultural Services, District Deputy Director, Animal Production and Health Department, District Fisheries Assistant Director, District Aquaculture Project Officer, Regional Education Director, (Colombo, Kotte, Homagama , Piliyandala), Regional Health Service Director, Chief Medical Officer of Health, Provincial Ayurveda Commissioner, Divisional Secretaries of Colombo District and a group of government officials were also participated in this meeting.

 The ceremony of taking over duties in the office of Additional District Secretary, by Mrs K.N. Kaushalya has taken place amidst Sethpirith Sajjayana at the District Secretariat, Colombo on 17th, August 2023.She was held the position of Divisional Secretary, Matara prior to assuming this position.

Mrs. Kaushalya was appointed to this post after the transfer of former Additional District Secretary, Mr. Sampath Idamgodage.

Mrs. K.N. Kaushalya Kumari, an alumnus of Devi Balika Girls School, Colombo was sworn in as a lawyer, 2002 after graduated from the Law faculty in the Open University and the Sri Lanka Law College as well.She has also earned  a degree of  Public Management(Bsc) from the University of Sri jayawardhanapura and degree in Economics (Bachelor Of Arts) from the Univerdity of Ruhuna. She is infact a clever and capable public officer with a service experince of 27 years. After having entered through an Open Competitive Examination in to the Sri lanka Administrative Service, 2006, she has got the first appointment as an Assistant Director, Public Finance Department in the Treasury.

Subsequently, while serving as the Assistant Divisional Secretary, Puhulwella and the Divisional Secretary of Pasgoda, Mulatiyana and Matara, she was lucky enough to hold the office of Additional District Secretary within a short period of time as a result of displaying the ability and competency in management of official duties in all sorts.The father and mother of Mrs. Kaushala were held posts of Estate Superintendent and School Principlal respectively.
