The first special program of the Law Clinic, a project to provide legal advice to solve the duties of Divisional Secretaries, was held on 29.08.2025 under the patronage of the Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, Dr. A.H.M. H. Abayaratne at the Narahenpita Nila Medura Auditorium.
This Law Clinic special program, which was attended by 25 Divisional Secretaries and officers from across the island, was held on the 29th and 30th, and discussions were held on the latest laws related to land management, information technology law, social service affairs, retirement affairs, business name registration, licensing, and compensation payments.
In addition, discussions were held on the legal background related to the Information Act and solutions to the problems presented, and this Law Clinic program is scheduled to call Divisional Secretaries from across the island and inform them in the future.
The Divisional Secretariats selected for the digitalization pilot projects were officially recognized and the Grama Niladharis who won the National Level Evaluation Competition for the Management and Inspection of Grama Niladhari Offices in 2020 and 2021 were also awarded by the Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, Dr. A. H.M.H. Abayaratne.
The occasion was graced by the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, S. Aloka Bandara, Advisor to the Ministry, Ashoka Peiris, Colombo District Secretary Ginige Prasanna Janaka Kumara, Additional Secretaries of the Home Affairs Division, A.G. Nishantha, Dr. Roshini Dissanayake, Dhammika Muthugala, Omali Wimalaratne, former Commissioner General of Lands Keerthi Gamage, Professor Prathibha Mahanamahewa, Additional Solicitor General of the Attorney General's Department President's Counsel Sumathi Dharmawardena, Deputy Solicitor General Chaya Sri Nammuni, Deputy Solicitor General Ganga Vakishthaarachchi, Senior Government Counsel Ishan Ratnapala and many staff officers of the Ministry participated. This program was organized by the Home Affairs Division.
